About YSC

YangSheng Choir (YSC)

The YangSheng Choir (YSC) is an amateur ensemble established in 2003. It currently operates as a choral group under the non-profit organization Pacific Pearl Music Association (PPMA). The choir’s mission is to serve the community and engage in charitable activities through the art form of choral music, while promoting and celebrating Chinese culture.

To date, the YangSheng Choir has participated in numerous significant events and performances in the Thousand Oaks and the great Los Angeles areas. These include fundraising concerts for the American Cancer Society, global peace concerts commemorating the end of World War II, performances of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Chinese New Year celebrations, a concert marking the 100th anniversary of the birth of Wang Luobin (王洛宾), a concert featuring the “Three Tenors of China” in the United States, and fundraising concerts for the victims of the Wenchuan Earthquake in China. Throughout these events, choir members have had the privilege of collaborating with renowned Chinese conductors and vocalists, benefiting from their expert guidance. Distinguished figures such as Li Xincao (李心草), Jiang Jinyi (姜金一), Li Xilin (李西林), Cao Peng (曹鹏), Liao Changyong (廖昌永), Dai Yuqiang (戴玉强), Wei Song (魏松), and other notable music artists have provided invaluable instruction to the ensemble.

The YangSheng Choir actively participates in community events, including the Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival concerts organized by PPMA, as well as the Thousand Oaks Spring Festival Gala presented by the Conejo Chinese Cultural Association (CCCA). These activities enrich the community’s cultural life, enhance the musical and artistic development of its members, and foster friendships through music. The choir is recognized as one of the most influential and dynamic choral groups in the region.
